The new Surgeon 1086 long action is made from pre hardened Aircraft grade 4340 steel. With a integral 20 moa 1913 Picatinny rail running the full length of the action coupled with a integral recoil lug, that not only cuts the number of mating surfaces in half, it gives you a extra ¼” of barrel thread tenon. That in turn creates a stiffer more accurate rifle. The 1086 also features a fenced in side mounted bolt stop that will not brake, fail or inadvertently release the bolt from the action. The Bolt bore and raceways on the 1086 along with all actions built at Surgeon are cut with a modern state of the art Wire EDM, which is truly capable of holding .00005 of an inch tolerance. The bolts themselves are made from one piece of pre hardened aircraft grade 4140 and held to exacting tolerances, to provide the optimum in reliability and performance, On both the repeater and single shot we offer two bolt faces.
